If any of you are interested in getting a better understanding of the dynamics of lutherie and obtaining some measure of control over these (aren't we all), I would highly recommend the book "Left Brain Lutherie" by David Hurd. I recently purchased and am about half way through it and it's quite a read. This is not a "how to build" book but more a "how to understand and manipulate the varibles that effect sound" book. Interesting material and definitely worth the price of admission.

You can find out more about this book on his website, www.ukuleles.comRoy O38391.4867708333

Don't be put off by the table of contents on his site. There's graphs and calculations but he does it all for you and he simplifies his message enough that even us dumb country cousin types can understand.
